SS13: Methodologies and Tools for Objective and Subjective Visual Quality Assessment of Point Clouds

Motivation & significance

•Point Clouds have experienced significant growth in the last few years. This progress is characterized by emerging use cases and applications in eXtended Reality (XR), the recent and ongoing development of immersive displays, and the live research field of multimedia representation and coding.

•showcase the current state of research in QoE assessment for point clouds and the latest developments in methodologies and tools that address factors specific to XR and other challenges related to real-time applications.

Topics of interest

•Subjective methodologies: Questionnaires, display protocols, subjective datasets, and content for visual quality assessment (VQA) of point clouds

•Objective methodologies: Content preparation, datasets, feature extraction, and metrics for VQA of point clouds

•Tools and software: Development for both objective and subjective VQA of point clouds
